by Tbone , The Sports Hernia I must say, it’s great to see the people of Philadelphia excited again with the Phillies back in the World Series for the first time since 1993. In some respects, Philly tends to be an under appreciated sports town. For all the flack they take about their obnoxious behavior (in some cases overblown), from the battery jokes to booing Santa Claus (yawn), people forget what a great, passionate sports town it really is.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Derek Fisher knows what the Lakers need. Lakers’ guard Derek Fisher believes that the team needs to improve their defense in order to challenge for the NBA title. “We have to defend a whole lot better,” Fisher said

The Los Angeles Lakers announced on their team website that guard Sasha Vujacic will miss 10-14 days with a fractured left ankle. The guard who signed a multi-year contract with the team in the off season was thought to have sprained the ankle the first day of training camp. A MRI revealed an avulsion fracture
